Random Highlights of 2008

(no particular order, just browse or scroll down to see what's here...)

Take a look at our new A/V control station in the sanctuary.  Our great thanks to Craig Tolhurst (one of our own) for the contribution of his wonderful woodworking skills.

Youth Mini-Mission Trip - Nov 7 & 8 2008
Our MS/Jr Hi youth served overnight at Emergency Shelter Services, a family homeless shelter, in Benton Harbor.   Friday night working & playing with the many kids while parents had Bible study and some quiet, then on Saturday morning at the shelter's storefront.  Our hands and hearts for God's work.  We all grow as we serve, and realize that we are all God's children.

Just look at the kids - joy, a grand gift from God!

Summer 2008 Activities

We've had a number of activities with the youth this summer - a trip to AJ's, a canoe trip, a camp out at the church, a trip to Michigan Adventures, and a picnic.    Here are a few snapshots to capture the fun.

Food Drives for North Kent Service Center

May 2008
Our youth and families, and some not-so-youth folks, joined together May 4 2008 to collect donations of food being kindly given by folks in the north Lake Bella Vista area and the east side of Rockford Hills Village subdivisions.

These folks, our neighbors, have contributed more than 1000 lbs of food, 90 or so bags full with one box weighing 42 lbs. alone!  This surpasses the Fall food drive which collected over 1000 lbs.!   Financial donations raised the equivalent of another 2000lbs!

Nov 2008
Our November drive again collected more than 1000lbs of food, from more folks around Lake Bella Vista and Bostwick Lake.

Spring 2009
1600lbs+!  A new record!  Generous hearts, helping hands.  We serve the Lord by serving others.

Spring 2008 Youth Retreat - May 2nd & 3rd

Stony Lake Lutheran Camp (near New Era, MI – about 20min north of Muskegon) was the location for our spring youth retreat on Fri/Sat May 2 &3.  Hope’s Jr Hi/Middle School youth gathered with folks from Ascension Lutheran in Kentwood.  Friday was a fun time exploring our talents and gifts, how we use them to God’s glory, and how when we combine them we change the world around us.   Some of us stayed up late to watch Napoleon Dynamite (great movie!) and discussed it as well. Saturday was a work day at the camp, helping prepare it for the summer camping season.  Take a look at a few of the pictures from the outing…
