Children and youth are one of the great joys of Hope Community Church,
and we value their participation in our ministries and worship services.
They are not "the future" of the church - they are a vital and
contributing part of the church now!
Our children and youth learn about Christian discipleship in our
Faith Formation Ministry (lots of
pictures there, too!) and
participate in worship, serving as acolytes, communion assistants,
readers of our Holy Scripture, and singing in the praise team, among
other things. Their gifts of insight, excitement and wonder become
gifts to all of us.
Our older youth (6-8th grade, as well as 9-12th separately) often
participate in retreats and outings with youth from other congregations.
All are encouraged to engage in service projects both within the
congregation and to the community around us. One of the favorite
efforts is our community food drives on behalf of the the North-Kent
Service Center. (see pic below, with some of the servants - and
just a small part of the food!) which last time gathered over 1000lbs of
food, and donations that provide 2000lbs more! |
